Food Establishment Inspection Scores

Food Inspection Scores - What Do They Mean?

Inspections of the Rowlett food establishments are conducted following the Texas Food Establishment Rules (TFER). Food establishments earn a score based on the number of demerits accumulated out of the 100 weighted points which summarize all health and sanitation regulations.  Values of the demerits are categorized in one of the following types of violations: Priority Items (3 Points), Priority Foundation Items (2 Points), and Core Items (1 Point).

If you believe that you are suffering from a food related or food-borne illness, please contact a medical doctor for advice as a food-borne illness cannot be confirmed without laboratory testing and analysis. In addition, residents should also contact Environmental Health and a food-borne illness investigation will be conducted.

For more information, you may contact Environmental Health at 972-412-6125 or by email Healthservices@rowlett.com.
