Explorer Post One

What is Exploring:

Exploring is a youth program chartered through Boy Scouts of America's Learning for life organization. The goal is to allow career education for young men and women between the ages of 14 and 20. Exploring provides real life experience to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults

Rowlett’s Explorer Post One:

The purpose of the Rowlett Explorer Program (Post) is to provide young adults with an opportunity to experience the emergency services field and develop their interpersonal, leadership and organizational skills while providing a community service. While the post does all this and more, the true value to being an Explorer in Rowlett is a sense of community.  The youth of Post One continue to evolve and expand what it means to serve others and to be part of our community.

Post One was established in 2007 as a Rowlett Citizens Corps Council program and has grown steadily since.  All the members are trained in FEMA’s G317 course which is the Community Emergency Response Team basic training.  After initial training they are invited to participate right along with their adult counterparts in Rowlett CERT.  Adult leaders are referred to as Advisors and are always present whenever the youth are involved in any activity.   The Post meets weekly and training is a common theme.  The Explorers are proficient in First Aid and CPR/AED, Stop the Bleed and Until Help Arrives.  Other training includes Search and Rescue, Maps and Orienteering, Disaster Preparedness, National Incident Management, Canoe/Kayak operation, Climbing, Rappelling as well as Fire and EMS Operations.
