General
Any of the following that apply to you will automatically make you ineligible for application
- Convicted of any theft
- Have ever have been on court-ordered community supervision or probation for any criminal offense above the grade of Class B misdemeanor or a Class B misdemeanor within the last ten years from the date of the court order
- Are currently under indictment for any criminal offense
- Have ever been convicted of an offense above the grade of a Class B misdemeanor or a Class B misdemeanor within the last ten years
- Have ever been convicted of any family violence offense
- Are prohibited by state or federal law from possessing firearms or ammunition
- Are prohibited by state or federal law from operating a motor vehicle
- Have ever been convicted of DWI
- Unacceptable Driving Record (PDF)
Prior Military
If you have been discharged from any military service under less than honorable conditions including, specifically;
- Under other than honorable conditions
- Bad conduct
- Dishonorable
- Any other characterization of service indicating bad
- Character
TCLEOSE Licensed
- Have had a commission (TCLEOSE) license denied by final order or revoked
- Are currently on suspension, or does not have a voluntary surrender of license currently in effect
- Have not violated any commission rule or provision of Occupations Code, Chapter 1701
Personal Appearance
- Inappropriate Tattoo - A tattoo that depicts, describes, or otherwise refers to sexual conduct, acts, or organs.
- Note: The Chief of Police will make the final determination of what constitutes an inappropriate tattoo.
- Offensive Tattoo - A tattoo that depicts, describes or refers to intolerance of, or discrimination against any race, color, preference, creed, religion, gender, national origin, or commonly associated with any organization or group which advocates such intolerance or discrimination.
- Visible Tattoos -Any employee that has an inappropriate or offensive tattoo or body art shall keep such tattoo or body art covered by a long sleeve police uniform shirt and uniform pants at all times while on-duty or representing the Department in any official capacity.
- Body Piercing or Alteration-Body piercing or alteration to any area of the body visible in any authorized uniform or attire that is a deviation from normal anatomical features and that is not medically required is prohibited. Such body alteration includes, but is not limited to:
- Tongue splitting or piercing.
- The complete or transdermal implantation of any material other than hair replacement.
- Abnormal shaping of the ears, eyes, nose or teeth.
- Branding or scarification.
