Our Support

The Neighborhood Planning program supports several groups that share our goal of increasing community cohesion and strengthening neighborhood livability.

City of Rowlett Boards and Commissions

Rowlett Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission (RDEIC)

The Rowlett City Council created the RDEIC in 2018 with the unique goal of engaging Rowlett's diverse population to improve communication and achieve higher levels of inclusiveness. The RDEIC exists to present the City Council with creative ideas, community feedback, and serve as a sounding board for public policy. Neighborhood Planning serves the RDEIC through:

  • Acting as an extension of the Staff liaison, Munal Mauladad, to aid in RDEIC governmental training and meeting facilitation
  • Regular attendance at RDEIC meetings
  • Guidance on the response to neighborhood needs surrounding the issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Promotion, research, and support of projects that align with the Neighborhood Planning mission and Strategic Plan

Rowlett Community Organizations in Active Disaster Committee (COAD)

COAD serves as the foremost community-driven organization for the City in each phase of disaster: mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. It will follow the guiding principles of cooperation, communication, coordination, and collaboration to ensure a synergetic approach toward community resilience.  The Committee is expected to be capable of providing all-hazards support to the community. Neighborhood Planning serves COAD through:

  • Identification of neighborhood emergency needs
  • Serving as a connecting point from neighborhoods to emergency response
  • Attendance at regular meetings

Partnerships and Affiliations

Bee City USA

Rowlett is officially a Bee City USA affiliate! We remain committed to increasing the abundance of native plants, providing nest sites, and reducing the use of pesticides through the creation and management of pollinator habitats. Check here for important information on beautification projects in the City of Rowlett.

Neighborhood Engagement Revitalization Alliance (NERA)

NERA is an alliance of local municipalities in North Texas who partner to support professionals involved in community engagement and neighborhood revitalization. Together, we host fun and informative programs, like the Tri-City Neighborhood Summit, and HOA Legal Clinic.
