When experiencing a critical incident or impactful life event, you may notice some physical, psychological or may experience symptoms you have not had in the past. Some signs to be aware of:

  • Feelings of sadness or withdrawal
  • Suicidal ideation
  • Risk taking behavior
  • Increased alcohol use
  • Drastic change in personality or mood
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Intense worry or anxiety
  • Lack of appetite
  • Sudden, overwhelming fear for no reason
  • Increased heart rate, nausea, and/or physical discomfort not associated with illness
  • Detachment
  • Avoidance of feelings, locations, or conversations associated with the critical incident.

Please be mindful and do not compare yourself to your coworkers. Everyone processes events differently, on their own time. The healing process varies for everyone.
