What is peer support?

The goal of the peer support team is to provide all Rowlett Police and Fire employees (sworn or not) the opportunity to receive emotional support through times of personal or professional crisis. The main goal of our program is to dispel the stigma and to ensure individuals there is no shame in asking for help. Peer support is available to discuss any topic whether it has to do with work or not.
Peer support DOES NOT replace seeing a professional counselor.

Is peer support confidential?

The Texas Health and Safety Code Chapter 784 establishes confidentiality between Peer Support members and an employee who receives services from peer support. The communication may not be disclosed in civil, criminal, or administrative proceedings.
Confidentiality may be broken if the individual threatens to harm themselves or others. Confidentiality may also be broken if there is suspected child or elder abuse.

When are peer support members available?

Peer support members are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide confidential assistance.

How many sessions does EAP provide?

Rowlett's employee assistance program provides 6 free sessions per instance for employees and dependents. For more information please follow this link.

What is Lifeologie Counseling?
-
Lifeologie offers individual, couples, child & adolescent, and family therapy. In addition to talk therapy, the also provide EMDR, psychotherapeutic yoga, mindfulness, and life skills. Lifeologie is FREE of charge and can be utilized for any personal or professional issue.

Am I only allowed to contact someone from my department?

No, you can contact any peer support member from any department. You are not tied to one department just because you work there. Police can contact fire, vice versa. You may also contact someone from another department.
