In celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's legacy, the City of Rowlett Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission is hosting their 3rd Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Community Event. The event will include passionate speakers, performers, vendors, and a "Continuing the Dream Contest" for local students.
In celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the City of Rowlett Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission is excited to announce the Continuing the Dream Contest, which carries the theme "Together We Can Continue the Dream of MLK.” This contest is open to individuals and groups in elementary through high school who are passionate about equality, justice, and the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Are you ready to bring your creativity and passion to life to honor Dr. King's dream? Gather your friends, classmates, or community members and create an exhibit that showcases what it means to continue the dream of MLK. Whether it's through art, spoken word, or creating a visual exhibit for display, we want to see your vision for a world where equality and justice prevail. On Saturday, January 13, from 10 am to 2 pm, we invite contest participants to share their exhibits at the Rowlett Community Centre. This will be a day of inspiration, education, and celebration as we come together to remember the impact of Dr. King's legacy and work toward a brighter future for all. A panel comprised of Rowlett City Councilmembers will review the exhibits and choose winners from the elementary, middle school, and high school categories. Prizes and recognition await those whose exhibits best embody the spirit of Dr. King's dream and the theme of the contest. This is a wonderful opportunity for students and community members to engage in the profound messages of unity, compassion, and equality that Dr. King championed. So, rally your friends, family, or classmates and bring your collective voices and visions to life! Let's honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by standing together and showing that, indeed, together we can continue the dream of MLK!
