Early Voting is Underway! 

The General/Special Election is Saturday, May 7. Positions on the ballot are Mayor and Councilmembers Place 1, 2, 4 & 6.

  • Dallas County residents can early vote at the City Hall Annex Conference Room 4004 Main Street, Rowlett (or any Dallas County Early Vote Center location).
  • Rockwall County residents can early vote at the Rockwall County Library, 1215 E. Yellowjacket Lane, Rockwall.

Administrative Professionals Week

On Wednesday, City Manager Brian Funderburk (peeking out there from in the back) and Deputy City Manager Angie Smith (far left) recognized and celebrated all of the hard work that the City of Rowlett Administrative Professionals do every day across all of our departments. Central to any business, these professionals keep an office organized and efficient. The day in the life of an administrative professional is varied from moment to moment - while organization is key to their success, their flexibility and ability to handle the unexpected make them an invaluable member of our team!

Red Cross Sound the Alarm Home Fire Safety Education

Come out for free Red Cross home fire safety information and the first 300 families will receive a family food box courtesy of the North Texas Food Bank.
 
Did you know that smoke alarms have the power to reduce the risk of death and injury due to home fires by 50%? In partnership with the Rowlett Fire Department, the American Red Cross North Texas would like to make your home safer by providing free smoke alarm installation! The American Red Cross offers FREE 10yr Lithium Battery smoke alarms to anyone in need.  This campaign started in 2014 and has been proven to have saved at least 1500 lives due to Home Fires.  Every 7 minutes, The American Red Cross responds to a home fire across the nation.  There are no prerequisites in order to request an alarm.

Miller Road RR Crossing 

City of Rowlett Streets crews repaved the railroad crossing approaches on Miller Road at CA Roan this week. It’s now a much smoother driving experience!

DGNO Railroad anticipates performing railroad crossing rehab on the two crossings in the PGBT access roads between Main Street and SH 66 in June, once school is out for the summer.

National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

Saturday, April 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Rowlett Community Center, 5300 Main Street. 

Drop off your expired, unwanted, or unused prescription drugs to a Rowlett Police Officer. This is a collaborative effort with state and local law enforcement agencies coordinated by the Drug Enforcement Agency focused on removing potentially dangerous controlled substances from our nation’s medicine cabinets.

Lakeland Heights Neighborhood Reconstruction

Contractors completed the installation of the water line on Kyle Rd, and the water line passed all testing. The sanitary sewer crew completed the installation of the 8” sanitary sewer main line on Lisa Dr. and started construction on the sanitary sewer line for Patricia Ln.

SH66 East Sanitary Sewer Line Project 

Contractors resumed installation of the 30-inch sanitary sewer line. Two more manholes were replaced and an additional 320 linear feet of pipe was placed in the ground. The creek aerial crossing is expected to be constructed next week.
