Community Emergency Response Team ClassSaturdays, August 6 & 13 8 am-6 pm both days The Rowlett Citizen Corps Council is actively recruiting residents to be trained in the CERT program, which includes Disaster Medical Operations, Light Search and Rescue, and Fire Suppression following FEMA guidelines. During a natural or man-made disaster, CERT teams assist Public Safety teams in doing damage assessment, accounting for residents and securing quick, accessible routes into their neighborhood. Teams also help search for missing persons, and assist with evacuations, traffic control, courtesy patrols and City events.

Is THIS a Code ViolationOvergrown vegetation can be a violation of the Rowlett Code of Ordinances (Chapter 78-121, Subsection 302.4) if not maintained properly. Landscaping and vegetation can be a safety hazard if they obstruct driver visibility or impede a public right-of-way, such as a sidewalk, alley or street. Dead vegetation not only looks unsightly but can also harbor rodents, mosquitos and other pests, and can be a fire and safety hazard.
• Dead trees, shrubs, or ground cover must be removed and replaced as required.

Code Red Continues at the Rowlett Animal ShelterCome meet Lindy! She’s smart, she’s beautiful, and very energetic. Lindy is a two-year-old lab mix who is super affectionate and loves people. She likes to go on walks and loves to play. She is a little stressed in the shelter environment and can’t wait to break out and find her furever family. Lindy is fully vetted and healthy. She would prefer to be the only dog in the household but does get along with some dogs. If you would like to meet Lindy, please contact Animal Services at 972 412-6219.
