Michael Kuklenski, Jr. Our 22nd Rowlett Vet!At Tuesday night’s City Council Meeting, highly decorated United States Navy veteran Michael Kuklenski, Jr. was honored and recognized as our 22nd Rowlett Vet! Those decorations include the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, National Defense Silver Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He is also a recipient of the Silver Star Medal for gallantry, awarded for his actions while serving as a Hospital Corpsman with Company A, First Battalion, Seventh Marines, First Marine Division in Vietnam when his platoon was attacked in May of 1969. Although seriously wounded himself, he refused treatment and resolutely continued to provide medical care to the numerous injured Marines and drag them to safety.

TxDOT/DGNO PGBT Frontage Road ProjectIn partnership with TxDOT, DGNO Railroad will perform railroad crossing rehab on the north-and-south bound PGBT frontage roads between Main Street and SH66 (Lakeview Parkway) beginning Thursday, July 21. Each frontage road will be completely closed from Main Street to SH66 (Lakeview Parkway) for the approximately 5-day-duration of its project. These projects are limited to the frontage roads and will NOT affect any vehicle travel on the main lanes of PGBT, nor will any on/off ramps be closed. -Northbound frontage road closure: July 21 – July 25 (to mitigate the possibility of increased large truck traffic, the westbound entrance to Main Street will be closed at PGBT during this time as well) -Southbound frontage road closure: July 28 – August 1
We are very excited for DGNO to have selected our community to receive these railroad crossing rehabilitation projects – and very grateful the projects will be complete before school begins on August 8!

Update on Progress of Water Plant Maintenance and Continued Request for Outdoor Watering ReductionJuly 19, 2022: The North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) is maintaining its call to action for continued reduction of outdoor watering by customers despite the progress being made to complete the critical maintenance at the Wylie Water Treatment Plant Complex. Drought conditions combined with peak water demands continue to put a stress on the regional delivery system and local water storage tank capacities. Ongoing water conservation habits by customers, will help NTMWD maintain water delivery for essential services of safe drinking water and public safety. As drought conditions persist, elevated and sustained local water conservation efforts will remain critical – as every drop counts.
Customers are strongly encouraged to seek local water conservation guidance from their water providers. More general tips are available here...
As a reminder, this continued call to action is due to water production quantity, and not water quality – the water is safe to drink and use. Read the full release and update here...
