Fiscal Year 2023 Proposed Budget –City Council Workshop SessionsThursday, August 18 Monday, August 22 Citizens have the opportunity to engage the City Council with regard to the Proposed FY2023 Budget and tax rate. Highlights include a reduction to the City tax rate and the addition of several Police Officers. Rowlett Fire Department Station 4 Crew Awarded STEMI Emmy

On Wednesday evening, the crew from Rowlett Fire Department's Station 4 was presented this quarter’s STEMI Emmy from Baylor Scott and White Medical Center-Lake Pointe. When a heart attack strikes, receiving fast, lifesaving care is crucial to survival – and every second counts. For patients arriving by ambulance with a very serious type of heart attack called an ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), hospital staff is alerted during transport, allowing them to provide critical care immediately upon arrival. Congratulations to this crew for having "the fastest 911-to-balloon time"! Is THIS a Code Violation? Parking a vehicle on an unimproved surface, like grass, is a violation of the Rowlett Code of Ordinances, Chapter 22-263. • All motorized vehicles shall be parked on a concrete surface. • All vehicles shall be parked on a required surface at least three feet from the rear property line, provided that vehicles on corner lots shall not be stored on any side of the lot adjacent to a street. Why? Parking a motorized vehicle on the grass can:
• Pose a fire hazard • Pose a health risk due to mosquitos breeding in standing water of ruts • Pose a threat to the environment from fluid leaks such as oil or gasoline • Ruins neighborhood appeal

Lakeland Heights Neighborhood ReconstructionTiseo Paving Company’s utility contractor continued installing the new water line and new storm sewer on Leanne Lane and connected the new water line on Smartt Street to the existing water line on Miller Road. Tiseo continues with subgrade preparation on Kyle Drive. The south side of Patricia Lane and the eyebrow on Lisa Drive have been paved.

Miller Rd. Paving, Drainage and Utility Improvements Tiseo Paving Company’s utility contractor made the adjustments needed to continue installing the new 12-inch water line on the west of the Miller/Chiesa intersection.

Alley Reconstruction: Schrade Rd/Cousteau Dr, Cousteau Dr/Calypso Dr, Starboard Trail/Martha Ln
Texas Civil Construction finished the alley pavement in the Schrade/Cousteau alley and reopened it to residents Friday. Subgrade preparation continued in the Martha/Starboard Trail alley.
