2021 Bond Project – Outoor Warning Siren (OWS) Installation
This week, the City kicked off installation of the new state-of-the-art OWS system. The first two locations are Pecan Grove Park and Springfield Park. Funding to replace Rowlett’s OWS system was approved by Rowlett voters in the 2021 CIP Bond Election.
Mayor Margolis was in attendance and said “We appreciate the community for voting to approve the Outdoor Warning Siren project in 2021. These new sirens will increase coverage throughout the City, and some will even be equipped with weather stations and PTZ cameras for monitoring in the Emergency Operations Center during severe weather events”
Look for more updates on the project in the coming weeks! Check out the siren testing video… More info about 2021 CIP Bond projects…

October Mayor’s Spotlight - Let’s Talk Trash! This month, Mayor Margolis is talkin’ trash. The City's current solid waste contract expires in September 2024. Like so many others in the service provider industry, solid waste companies have been severely impacted by the economic conditions resulting from the pandemic. From labor shortages to fuel costs, to equipment and vehicle replacement issues – the impacts have resulted in a shift and providers are no longer offering the high level of services, such as unlimited bulk pick up, we currently enjoy at a price point equitable to our current rates. Therefore, the City of Rowlett is interested in hearing about what YOU consider important as we proactively begin the process to contract our next solid waste service provider. Services and pricing will change so we want your opinion on the services that matter most to you! Read the October Mayor’s Spotlight…
Come tell us what you think! Let’s Talk Trash Public Input Sessions at the Rowlett Community Centre Tuesday, October 18 @ 9am Wednesday, October 19 @ 7pm Thursday, October 20 @ 7pm

This decoration won’t be there forever; so be sure to visit – this is a great Insta-ready photo op!
