Let’s Talk Trash!

The City's current solid waste contract expires in September 2024. Like so many others in the service provider industry, solid waste companies have been severely impacted by the economic conditions resulting from the pandemic. From labor shortages to fuel costs, to equipment and vehicle replacement issues – the impacts have resulted in a shift and providers are no longer offering the high level of services, such as unlimited bulk pick up, we currently enjoy at a price point equitable to our current rates. Therefore, we’re interested in hearing about what YOU consider important as we proactively begin the process to contract our next solid waste service provider. Services and pricing WILL change so we want your opinion on the services that matter most to you!

ReCode Rowlett

Rowlett is updating the Rowlett Development Code (RDC) and Form-Based Code (FBC), the City ordinances that govern how property owners can use their land. The RDC and FBC include regulations that control development characteristics such as building height and form, setbacks between properties and rights-of-ways, what uses are permitted, how many parking spaces must be provided for various development types, and required landscaping. We'd love to hear from residents, visitors, community organizations, and other stakeholders about their impressions of development in Rowlett.

National Code Compliance Month

At this week’s City Council meeting, members of the Rowlett Code Enforcement team were recognized by proclamation for National Code Compliance Month. Rowlett’s Code Enforcement Officers are highly visible in our community - hey are a team committed to promoting the sustainability of our community through compliance and education of City codes and ordinances, while fostering meaningful relationships with the community. Through education, assistance, and guidance, over 90% of Rowlett code cases result in voluntary compliance. This means that less than 10% of Rowlett code cases result in municipal court citations or contract abatements, which reduces the financial impact on the citizen.
Did You Know?
Code Enforcement receives more than 800 code complaints and conducts over 10,000 inspections annually.
