My water heater needs repair and I will be doing the work myself. Do I need a permit?

Yes, a permit is required any time a water heater is replaced.  A water heater has certain codes required by State law that must be followed. Once the water heater has been replaced or repaired, a building inspector must come out to check and make sure the repair or replacement meets the code standards.
