How do I get an impounded vehicle released?
Vehicles NOT held as evidence in a criminal action will be released by the storing wrecker service company. If you do not know where your vehicle has been stored, you may contact the City of Rowlett Police Department Communications Division at 972-412-6200 and select Option #1 for the location.

The Texas Department of Transportation provides guidelines to the wrecker service companies regarding release of vehicles. This is not controlled by the City of Rowlett Police Department. To obtain your vehicle, you must contact the appropriate wrecker storage company and pay the impound/storage fees accrued.

If your vehicle has been impounded as evidence in a criminal action, or a law enforcement HOLD has been placed on the vehicle, you should contact the City of Rowlett Police Department Criminal Investigation Division between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM Monday thru Friday.
