How do I contest the assessed valuation on my property?
Assessed valuations are provided by the Dallas Central Appraisal District or Rockwall Central Appraisal District depending upon where you live in Rowlett. In order to contest your appraisal, you must complete the following steps. 1. File a written protest. Protest filings will not be accepted by electronic communication (facsimile, email, etc.). A noice of protest is sufficient if it identifies the owner, the property that is the subject of the protest ad indicates that you are dissatisfied with a decision made by the appraisal district. 2. File your notice of protest by May 31 or no later than 30 days after the appraisal district mailed a notice of appraised value to you, whichever date is later. Note that it is 30 days after ailing the notice, not it receipt. If you live in Dallas County and wish to file a protest, the link for additional information is located here http://www.dallascad.org/Protest.aspx. If you life in Rockwall County and wish to file a protest, the link for additional information is located here.http://www.rockwallcad.com/forms.htm
