1. Does the City provide Financial Reports?

Yes.  Monthly and annual comprehensive financial reports are be found on the City's website here.  For more information, please contact the Financial Services Department at 972-412-6285.

2. Where can I find out more about the City's budget?

Copies of printed budget documents may be found at the Rowlett Public Library at 3900 Main Street; the City Secretary's Office at 4000 Main Street; or the City's website at www.rowlett.com. 3. What is the City's property tax rate?

The City's 2022 property tax rate is $0.681000 per $100 assessed valuation. A public hearing concerning the 2023 tax rate will be held on September 19, 2023 at the City Council Chambers located at 4000 Main Street, Rowlett, TX 75088. Please contact the Budget Office at 972-412-6111 or the City's Action Center at 972-412-6100 for more information.

4. How do I contest the appraised value of my property?

Appraisal valuations are mailed to property owners by the Dallas Central Appraisal District or Rockwall Central Appraisal District, depending upon which county the property is located in within Rowlett. In order to contest your appraisal, you must file a written protest with the appropriate county's central appraisal district (CAD).  

Protests for Dallas County properties must be submitted to the Dallas Central Appraisal District no later than midnight on May 22. If you live in Dallas County and wish to file a protest, please follow the instructions for their uFile system provided at https://www.dallascad.org/forms/protest_process.pdf.

5. My property is located in Dallas County. Where do I remit my taxes?

The Dallas County Tax Office collects taxes for all Rowlett residents in both Dallas County and Rockwall County at https://www.dallascounty.org/departments/tax/pay-property-tax.php.

The Dallas County Tax Office collects taxes for all Rowlett residents in both Dallas County and Rockwall County at https://www.dallascounty.org/departments/tax/pay-property-tax.php.

7. How long does it take for a lien to be released once it has been paid?

It takes approximately 4-6 weeks for the City to receive the Release of Lien from either Dallas County or Rockwall County.  You may be able to view your release online before that time at the appropriate county website:

Rockwall County: Rockwall County eCommerce (rockwallcountytexas.com), under "ROAM sites" menu option (login required)
