Matt Grubisich Matt moved to Rowlett in 2004 and was elected to the City Council in August of 2017. Matt received his Bachelor of Science in Urban Forestry and Forest Management from Iowa State University and has been working in the Urban Forestry field for over 17 years in the DFW area. He is a Certified Arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) and specializes in GIS mapping, sustainable development strategies, and eco-system service analysis.


Matt has served in a leadership position on several boards and commissions, including three terms on the Rowlett Parks and Recreation Advisory Board; one as Vice-Chair, Kids Kingdom Steering Committee, Downtown Selection Committee, International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Texas Chapter Board of Directors, Past-President of the Trinity Blacklands Urban Forestry Council, and Chair of the Dallas Chapter of the Society of American Foresters. He is a frequent speaker at national and state conferences related to sustainable development and green infrastructure strategies.


Matt's primary interests for the City are to support our Police and Fire personnel, drive sustainable economic development, and create a healthy place to live that meets the needs of all the citizens of Rowlett. When not working, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife and three sons.
